Tomer Mazie

New Story Leadership for the Middle East

Tomer is a 25 year old Israeli graduate from Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and originally from Zichron Ya’ agov. He studied International Relations and Islamic and Middle East Studies and is close to completing his Masters in International Relations also at Hebrew University.

He is involved in his university debate club and also helps tutor first year students. Tomer has had extensive experience in youth leadership through the Lions Clubs and participated in camps in Denmark, Mexico and also other programs in Germany His parent’s family escaped from Germany before the holocaust and he has a keen interest in learning about other cultures and faiths.

His time in the Israeli army as a member of a paratrooper squad took him all over the West Bank and Gaza and opened him up to a new awareness of the Palestinian culture and their situation. He applied to NSL because he “wants to concentrate his energy on how to solve the conflict” rather than fight over who is right or wrong, and also “to show people the real side of Israel in the conflict and not just the one which the media always emphasizes.”

He loves sport, loves to run and follows Liverpool Football Club.
