The Annual SAIS Conference, 2012

New Story Leadership for the Middle East

Welcome to the New Story Leadership coverage of the 2012 SAIS Conference from John Hopkin’s University, Washington DC. The event took place on the 6th July 2012 and was recorded LIVE by the American television channel, CSPAN, the Middle East channel, MBC as well as SAIS’s own channel.

The event was introduced by Mr Andrew Rabens from the US State Department and featured a keynote address from Ms. Diane Halley, a former Human Rights Advisor at the European Parliament, and who had just came back from working as a Human Rights Advisor in an EU mission in Ramallah supporting the Palestinian police and justice institutions.

The four NSL students who accounted their powerful and emotive stories of hope, peace and possibility were Nitzan Regev-Sanders, Yara Owayyed, Waleed Issa and Guy Cherni. The Conference also heard from John Callaghan and Rikus Wessels who were part of the NSL Foundation and Management Teams respectively.

The Conference was compared by NSL interns, Meghan Siritzky and Patrick La Mar.
