Mohammed is a 23-year-old Palestinian from Beit Jala. He acquired his Bachelors Degree in Applied English from the Palestine Al Ahliya University in Bethlehem. During his studies his main research was focused on how Technology gets expressed in English. .He is very active in his local community of Wadi Foquin, where he works and lives and where recent world attention has been focused because the village is threatened by encroaching illegal Israeli settlements. He has established and organized a computer/cultural center for youth and children, with emphasis on computer literacy, applying what he’s learned from his IT degree. He helps members of the community – young and old – learn how to use computers and connect on the internet. He has run summer camps for youth, and organized the celebratory graduation ceremonies for local high school students. Mohammed’s Project for Change is to start the first proper Youth Club in Wadi Foquin that offers alternative recreational and educational activities for young people and which over time will become the model for a larger peer led and organized club in Bethlehem. While other clubs exist, Mohammed believes young people need to be given the chance to own what they create.
