Meet the 2018 NSL Delegation!

NSL2018 MATAN Matan Zur, from Tel Aviv, is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Security Studies at Tel Aviv University. She works as a coordinator for national and international crisis management at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Past experience includes Securities Classifier, Studies Consultant at Haifa University, and Model UN debater. Matan’s Project for Change is to open yoga workshops for Palestinians and Israelis to ease their souls and create a peaceful environment separate from day-to-day reality.
NSL2018 MARWA Marwa Odeh is from Nablus. She is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from An Najah University. She currently works as a Program Assistant for the 2018 Palestinian-Israeli-Japanese conference. Past experience includes facilitator for Journey to Understanding in Cyprus. She is an alumna of Encompass Leadership program in the United Kingdom. Marwa’s PFC is organizing the first Palestinian-Israeli-Japanese Conference to open a dialogue about economic investment in Palestine.
NSL2018 LIRON Liron Gavenda is from Tel Aviv. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Gender, Psychology, and Conflict Studies. He is a breaking news editor at Haaretz Newspaper. He founded the “People’s News Company” on the Halelit TV channel in Israel. Previous experience includes ranking News Editor for Kol Hagalil Ha’elion Radio Station. Leron’s PFC is creating a platform for Israeli and Palestinian journalists to come together to cover events in the region.
NSL2018 ASALA Asala Mahajna is from Um el Fahem. She is pursuing a joint-master’s degree in Hydro-Informatics and Water Management at New Castle University. Past work experience includes Hydraulic Engineer at Israel’s National Water Company, Research Assistant at Technion (Israeli Institute of Technology), and Intern at the Decentralized Energy Conversion Department at Stuttgart University in Germany. Asala’s PFC, Plexis Palestine, is to create a genealogical application for connecting externally displaced familial refugees around the world.
NSL2018 GEORGE George Mattar is from Haifa. He is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Communications, English Literature, and American Studies at Tel Aviv University. He is a Social Media Coordinator at Ben Horin and Alexandrovitz and a Project Manger for Wahed Elhad. Previous experience includes Project Manager at MIT Enterprise Forum, and External Relations Director at Model UN. George’s PFC is organizing joint Arab and Jewish high school service trips to enrich local communities.
NSL2018 AARON Aaron Benderski is from Ashdod. He is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations at the Hebrew University. He is a tour guide at the Knesset (the Israeli Parliament). He is also a member of the Movement for Quality Government in Israel (MQG). Previous work experience includes counselor at various youth movements. Aaron’s Project for Change is creating an initiative for students to become more involved politically in Israel and learn the tools needed to influence their leaders.
NSL2018 AHMAD Ahmad Saleh is from Mas’ha. He holds a degree in Biology from Bard University, and is currently pursuing a degree in Pharmaceutical Studies at An Najah National University. He is currently working as a recruiter and organizer for Tiyul- Rihla. He is a lead organizer at the Bard Palestinian Youth Initiative. Previous work experience includes organizing and recruiting for Encounter Organization. Ahmad’s PFC is to organize joint Palestinian-Israeli trips around the world.
NSL2018 NOA Noa Lazimi is from Haifa. She has a MA in Diplomacy Studies from Haifa University. She is the Director of Model UN at Ironi Hey High School, and teaches at Haifa High School. She is part of a team of leading teachers that are working on educational reform in high schools nationwide. Previous work includes research consultant for Zionist Strategies. Noa’s PFC is to create a joint Arab-Jewish coalition of teachers to facilitate a safe and balanced dialogue with high school students.
NSL2018 NEDAL Nedal Farroukh is from Hebron. He recently graduated from Community Modern University, and is currently pursuing a career in nursing. Nedal is an alum of the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, which works on cross-border environmental initiatives. Previously, he was a research assistant for War Child Holland in East Jerusalem. Nedal’s Project for Change is opening a bakery where the profits will go to assisting the elderly in the West Bank.
