Where will Israel and Palestine find their next generation of leaders? While the current leaders continue to search for a way forward, the future ultimately depends on a deeper generational change, one that governments alone cannot achieve. NSL believes that the greatest investment in the future is the human investment. It seeks to find those future Palestinian and Israeli leaders, offer them a transformative and challenging experience in Washington DC, forge them together as an effective working team, so that when they return home, they are more committed and prepared than ever to shape a better future.
NSL has three core activities centered around those young people who can best secure the promise of a better future.

- “FORMING” which refers to the 6 month Leadership Training Program from April through October including the special 7 week NSL Washington Semester and the List of possible Internships for 2012. Another key aspect of the formation is the cultural immersion of living with a Host Family. Read more about what kind of challenge that can be.
-
“FULFILLING” which refers to the program’s ongoing commitment to support graduates as they emerge as leaders in every field of endeavor and to keep them connected. In this way, they fulfill the promise NSL first saw in them. Click the links to read more.

There is a simple, yet challenging logic to the NSL program that can best be summarized in our “Easy Essay” about stories and the future inspired by Peter Maurin.
“The only way to change the past isto change the future,The only way to change the future isto give the future a voice now,The only way to give the future a voice now isfor young people to speak out now,The only way for young people to speak out now isfor them to realize the future is the most important story they have.”P. Andrew Costello
NSL is dedicated to helping the young people of the Middle East realize just that.
